A student\u2019s sense of wellbeing is not only fundamental to their health, but overall happiness and the SW team recognise that this can positively influence student learning outcomes.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Student Wellbeing Team work to ensure wellbeing at the college is viewed as a relationship between our best individual self and our best environment. It is vital that we promote happy connections to others and the school environment. We work to support our students\u2019 needs by promoting belonging, removing barriers to learning and through supporting our students to build their capacity, skills and resilience, so that all students of our community can experience personal growth and a sense of success.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u200b<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>The Patterson River Secondary College Student Wellbeing team \u200b\u200b<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Wellbeing Team Leader<\/strong> \u2013 Coordinates the delivery of student wellbeing support across the college. The Leader is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the team. Supports Year Level Leaders to manage the individual needs of the at-risk students in their year levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Mental Health Practitioner<\/strong> &#8211; This role consists of mental health prevention and promotion across the school, direct counselling as well as supporting students with more complex mental health needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Student Wellbeing Officer<\/strong> \u2013 This role involves direct support 1:1 with a focus on supporting students social and emotional needs. The role also facilitates the delivery of evidence-based wellbeing programs to support identified needs within the college.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Social Worker<\/strong>&#8211; This role provides intensive support for students with complex needs relating to engagement and school attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Youth Worker<\/strong> \u2013 This role engages students via wellbeing programs and groups throughout the college. This role also involves 1:1 student support with a focus on mentoring and school-based support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 <strong>Student Engagement Officer<\/strong> \u2013 Provides support for students relating to engagement and school attendance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022<strong> Student Wellbeing Counsellor<\/strong> \u2013 This role provides 1:1 counselling support to students The role also facilitates the delivery of evidence-based wellbeing programs to support identified needs within the college.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Adolescent School Nurse<\/strong> \u2013 This DET role works collaboratively with the school to provide health promotion and primary prevention to improve student health and wellbeing as well as student learning outcomes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u200b\u200b\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Accessing onsite school Wellbeing support\u200b<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wellbeing team use a tiered response model when delivering wellbeing support services across the College. This delivery of service model recognises that all students at Patterson River are supported by wellbeing programs and curriculum as a Tier 1 Whole School response. In addition, some students will require a more targeted support approach through small group intervention, and this is considered a Tier 2 response. &nbsp;However, in some cases where there is a greater need for a student to receive individual support, a Tier 3 intervention is delivered via short term support sessions with the allocated Wellbeing team member.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tier 3 intervention is triaged through a school-based referral system. If your child is wanting to access wellbeing support, please encourage them to speak to their Form Teacher or Year Level Coordinator to organise a referral.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u200b\u200b\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doctors in Secondary School Program&nbsp;\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Doctors in Secondary Schools (DiSS) program provides youth-friendly primary healthcare services to 100 Victorian government secondary schools. A General Practitioner (GP) and Practice Nurse (PN) offer student consultations in modern, fit-for-purpose consulting rooms in schools, up to one day per week during the school term. DiSS complements existing student wellbeing programs aimed at improving health literacy and focusing on preventive health.
